DURATION OF UNIT: 5 (45 minute period)
- Students will gather information about current events in India and England.
- Students will be made aware of the history and the meaning of the symbols on the U.S. flag.
- Students will research the flags of India and England.
- Students will compose a paper on the history of the flags and the meanings of the symbols that are on the flags.
- Students will construct a detailed model of the flags of the two countries.
- Students will calculate the distance between the two countries using a scale map.
- Students will become familiar with using a compass.
- Students will construct a map with compass directions leading from the entrance of Misselthwaite Manor to the secret garden.
