TITLE: PowerPoint Time
GRADE LEVEL: 6
SUBJECT: Social Studies, Computer/Technology
LEARNER OUTCOMES: The student will:

Be shown how to design a PowerPoint presentation.

Use the reports they have written comparing/contrasting India and England
to find information they would like to share with the class.

Return to their groups and plan a presentation on India and England.
-
Design their PowerPoint presentations on the computer.
-
Present their PowerPoint designs to the class.
-
Be evaluated on how to do a PowerPoint presentation.
DURATION OF LESSON: 5 (45) minute periods
MATERIALS: Materials needed to complete this lesson are as follows:

Projector for PowerPoint Presentations

Computers

Microsoft PowerPoint
TEACHER NOTES:

Teacher should know how to design a PowerPoint presentation.

Students should be required to design at least eight slides.
-
Graphics and sound should be part of the requirement.

Teachers should make sure all of the students in the group are able to
participate in the design of the PowerPoint lesson.
PROCEDURES:
-
Teacher will present a step-by-step PowerPoint lesson showing the students
exactly how to design their own.

Students will be given a hand-out with step-by-step instructions.

Students will refer back to reports and decide what information they would
like to use for their PowerPoint lesson.

Students will return to their groups and decide what information they would
like to present to the class.

Students will spend three days in the computer lab working on their designs.

Students will present their PowerPoint lesson to the class.
-
Students will answer a quiz on how to do a PowerPoint presentation.

MODIFICATIONS:

Teachers should modify the lesson as necessary to meet the students' IEP
requirements.

Students who need extra help should be paired in groups with students who
are able to help them.

Teachers should determine the needs for student assistance based on Inclusion
and request a special education teacher when needed.

Teachers should use peer tutoring whenever necessary.
ENRICHMENT:

Students may present an extra PowerPoint lesson of their own.

PowerPoint presentations will be evaluated.
