Day 1: Introduce the book Johnny Tremain by using a T-View to find background information on the book. Have students complete a KWL chart as a class. Have each student make individual KWL charts to be placed in the journals they create on Day 3. Leave the large chart on display in the room while reading the book. Day 2: Introduce Esther Forbes by having the students meet the author and write a short biographical sketch of her life and works. This sketch should also be placed in the student journals on Day 3.
