This book
is written using the language of the Colonial Period. It is difficult
for some students.

The book
has 12 chapters. It will take more than 1 day for some chapters.
Procedure:
Days
1-15: Each day, read the book using a variety of reading strategies.
These may include oral reading, silent
reading, choral reading, paired reading, or group reading.
For each chapter, define vocabulary and respond to writing prompts in the
student journals.

activities while reading Johnny Tremain.
1. Read Paul
Revere's Ride.
2. Make a tin
can lantern.
3. Make candles.
4. Research the Stamp
Act and The
Boston Tea Party.
5. Compare and contrast characters
in the book.
6. Design a stamp as a monogram.
Modifications:
Peer grouping.
IEP specifications will be followed.
Enrichment:
Students may develop a Power Point presentation to summarize the book
with at least 10 slides that
includes music, animation, and clip art.
Assessment:
Completion of student journal activities including vocabulary definitions
and writing prompts.
