Learner Outcomes:
     1.   The student will aquire a knowledge of  Russian foods and methods of  preparing them.
     2.   The student will follow written directions to prepare a Russian snack.
     3.   The student will taste and critique the Russian snack prepared.

Duration of Lessons:   2 - 50 minute sessions

Materials:  cookbooks, cooking tools, computer and critique worksheet 

Technology  Tools/Courseware:  internet

Teacher Notes:

  1. Other teachers may be asked for recipes
  2. Check into food and additive allergies
  3. Home Ec. room availability
Procedures:
     1.   The students will look through magazines and cut out pictures of  Russian foods to make a  poster to be displayed on the wall.
     2.   The students will search for Russian recipes in cookbooks or on the internet, research any unknown terms and plan preparation of the dish.
     3.   The students will prepare the dish choose and fill out a critique worksheet on the dish.

Modifications:
      1.   Students will work in small groups
      2.   Worksheets will be completed in the classroom.
      3.    Peer tutoring will be encouraged.

Enrichment Activities: 
       1.   Students will choose as hard or as easy a recipe as they want 
       2.  Students may share the dish and critique with a friend 

Evaluation/Assessmsnt:  Participation grade on poster,  recipe research and terms.  Graded worksheet
