Duration of Lesson: Five
30-minute lessons
Materials: Use
blank 3x5 index cards so each child can make his/her own game.
Technology Tools/ Courseware:
PowerPoint presentation, multimedia computer.
Go to the internet "Quia"
to play concentration game "Set Sail for Concentration".
Teacher Notes:
Give out index cards before beginning lesson so they will have enough time
to complete the words before they begin game.
Procedures:
Day 1:

Introduce the related words
to the theme Christopher Columbus.

Go over game rules.

Teach how to keep score.

Divide into smaller groups to
make their cards.

Divide into smaller groups to
play with the cards that the class has made.
Day 2-5:

Teach other games that have
been created for their level using the internet link "Quia".
Modifications:
Pair children with a student partner to play and make their cards.
Evaluation Activity:
Observe students as they identify the words on the game pieces and to tell
about that word.
