Day 1—Teacher writes

the words together. If there are questions pertaining to these words, the
teacher and students will provide the answers.
The twenty words are: equator,
prime meridian, longitude, latitude, cartographer, navigator, compass,
sailor, captain, explorer, isthmus, horizon, hurricane, Coat of Arms, monastery,
fleet, stern, stem, log, trade winds
Day 2—The students,
working in groups or with partners, will use the materials provided to
arrive at a definition for each of the twenty words. The definitions must
pertain to Columbus or his voyage in some way.
Day 3—The teacher
and students will go over each word making sure they have appropriate and
relative answers. The students will type the word and definition and also
use each word in a meaningful sentence.
Day 4—The students
will go to the Internet site, Quia,
and will answer the word search puzzle.
Day 5—Each pair of
students will take turns using the classroom computer to play the Christopher
Columbus Jeopardy Game.

students who have difficulty with reading will be assigned a peer tutor
for the purpose of successfully completing all assignments. If this is
not enough, the teacher will also assist and guide.
