
Grade Level: 7
Materials: four student designed quilt squares, scissors,
hole punch, yarn
Technology Tools/Courseware: Rubrics
1. Teacher will instruct students in organizing
their squares into a personal quilt. Quilts will be ordered according to
presented lessons.
2. After organizing quilt squares students
will be given time to prepare their oral presentation. (Prior to
lesson, students will be given the oral presentation rubric to allow for
preparation.)
3. Students will orally present their personal
quilt to the class. Refer to rubric.
4. After all oral presentations, students
will assemble classroom quilt composed of all personal quilts.
Modifications:
1. Have students present their
quilt with the class, while scoring the rubric take their IEP's into consideration.
1. Invite a quilter to come
and demonstrate quilting. Offer after school opportunities for students
to make quilts for retirement centers.
2. Discuss and learn the history
of quilting in the area, have students compile a documentation of their
findings in the community.
1. Observation of oral presentation using a
grading rubric.
2. Completion of a four square personal quilt.
