Procedures:
1.
Instruct students to read and discuss Ray Bradbury's short story, "The
Naming of Names".
2. For the art component
of the lesson, instruct students to choose one section of the story to
illustrate.
a. Discuss how illustrations can enhance a reader's concept of a story.
Show examples of
illustrations from other books.
b. Review composition as it relates to visual art and the elements of art
and the principles of design.
c. Choose a section of the story "The Naming of Names" to illustrate.
d. Give students the option of media for their work: tempera paints, watercolors,
Prisma color pencils
or pen and ink.
f. Display the students work sequentially to the story line.
3. For the science component
of the lesson, instruct students to research the actual Mars, using the
