Modifications:Session 1
Session 2
- Explain to students that they will be learning the different rules that apply to the American Flag.
- Have students explore the bookmarked websites about the US Flag Code.
- Have students pick the 5 rules they think are the most important or most interesting and write them down.
- Keep the written rules to use during the next two sessions.
Session 3
- Students will review rules that they found during Session 1.
- Students and teacher will create a class bar graph noting the chosen rules and how many students chose those rules.
- Discuss the results of the graph.
- Tell the students that they going to make a book of flag rules.
- Have students copy each of their rules on a separate sheet of drawing paper.
- Students will then draw and color a picture to illustrate each rule.
- Students will make a cover for their books and bind the pages together.
