Procedures:
Session 1
- Discuss the recipe with class as a whole group.
- Demonstrate how to measure using the standard units of measurement.
- Give each group a copy of the recipe along with ingredients.
- Have students follow written recipe to make cake.
- While students are making cake batter, the teacher will use a digital camera to document each ingredient and step.
- Take cakes to the kitchen to be baked.
Session 2
- Review the design of the flag.
- Use topping ingredients to create the flag design on each cake.
- Take pictures of completed cakes and then let students eat.
Session 3
- Have students put pictures in sequential order .
- Write narrative by each picture to create recipe poster.
Modifications:
Evaluation / Assessment: Assessment will be done by teacher observation as students measure and design.
