Lesson 1: Introduction of psychology careers

Grade Level:  10, 11, 12

Subject(s):  Social Studies, Language Arts,  Health

Learner Outcomes:

• Students will become aware of various fields within psychology
• Students will learn how to research one career area on the internet and through books.

Duration of Lesson:  One 45 minute class period

Materials:  PowerPoint presentation (GHS), handouts of career fields and web sites

Technology Tools/Courseware:  computer and projection device for powerpoint presentation

Procedures:

• present PowerPointon careers
• have students take notes on their assignment
• give handout on career area descriptions

Enrichment Activities: a)  may have students in computer lab setting to check out various web sites as you present them, b) students could interview person within their chosen career and add that to presentation.

Evaluation/Assessment: student participation and notes taken during presentation
