CAREERS IN PSYCHOLOGY









Lesson 3:  Mini-Career Day

Grade Level:  10, 11, 12

Subjects:  Social Studies,  English/Language Arts, Health

Learner Outcomes:  Students will learn about career areas from personal experiences of those in actual jobs.

Duration of Lesson:  One 45 minute class period

Materials:  Room set up for presenters (may need to move class to large room for greater flexibility).

Technology Tools/Courseware:  Provide whatever computer or projection devices the presenters need. Video camera and digital camera for student use

Teacher Notes: Make sure all administrative staff are aware of presenters coming. May have students greet presenters at the main office.

Procedures:

  1. Arrange for presenters to have an area to talk to students and display whatever they might have.
  2. Students will ask the various presenters questions from questionnaire provided and other questions they may add to assist them with their presentations.
  3. Students may use video and/or digital cameras for filming presenters to use in their presentations.
Modifications:  None needed

Enrichment Activities:  A larger career fair could be planned to aid with students career decision making process.
