Students will calculate calories, fat grams, carbohydrates
and servings from personal Food Diaries and graph results in Excel.

Students will compare their daily intake to the recommended
daily intake for their age group and write a self evaluation.
Time Frame: One class
period. (45 minutes)

Obtain calculators prior to class if you do not have a set
of your own.

Bookmark a kid safe search
engine and remind students of rules for doing a search.
Procedures:
-
Food Diaries will be completed and brought to class today.

Use calculators to total columns.
-
Completed food diaries will be used to create graphs in Excel
of student's daily intakes.

Compare their charts to the recommended daily intakes for
their age groups.

Write a self evaluation paper in Creative
Writer or Word,
(whichever is available).
Modifications: Depending
on disability and IEP, use peer tutoring to complete computer assignment.
Enrichment Activities:Food
Scavenger Hunt on the Internet.
