SUBJECT AREAS:  Math, Driver's Education, and Social Studies

DESCRIPTION:  Students will be instructed in the concepts of time and energy conservation, computing mileage, unit conversion, map reading, and use of the computer for travel planning.

Lesson 1:    Local trip economy--purpose, time available
Lesson 2:    Reading regional maps (50 mile radius)--estimate mileage, ratios, and proportions, local weather
Lesson 3:    Planning trip to specific destination--mileage, alternative routes, time, list cities and towns visited with tourist information
Lesson 4:    Convert miles to kilometers, gallons to liters for out of country travel
Lesson 5:    Estimating vehicle expenses--oil, fuel, insurance, wear and tear
