Title: The Students Present!

Learner Outcomes:

The students will research information on an assigned topic.
Topics will be Van Gogh's Life, Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Expressionism,
and Four Styles of Painting (still life, portrait, abstract, and landscape).

Students will create a multi-media presentation to present
their assigned topic to the class.
Duration of Lesson: 3 to 5 class sessions
Materials: Paper, pencils, reference books
Optional resources: videos, tapes, and interviews
with experts in the field of art, etc.
Technology Tools/Courseware: Multi-media
computer, Internet, disks, LCD panel or data projector, scanner (optional).
Teacher Notes:

The teacher will have previously taught the students how
to build a multi-media presentation.

The teacher will need to view Internet sites and bookmark
some examples for each topic. Recommended sites are:
Procedures:

Divide the class into five groups and assign each group a
topic on which to prepare a Power Point Presentation.

Have students surf the Net and use other resources for information
on their topics.

Have each group create a Power Point presentation to share
their research.

Using a data projector or LCD panel, each group will give
their presentation to the class.
Modifications:

Consider special needs students when the topics and groups
are assigned.
Enrichment Activities:

Compare and contrast the life of Van Gogh with the life of
another artist of the same time period.
