Title:  The Preamble - What Does it Mean? 

Grade Level:  5 and 6

Subjects:  Social Studies,  Art,  Language Arts,  Music

Learner Outcomes:
    l.   Students will determine the meaning of a section of the Preamble.
    2.  Students will be able to explain why the Preamble is important to their lives.

Duration of Lesson:  one to three days depending on how long it takes students to learn the song

Materials:  Student handout,  art materials,  pencils, and paper

Technology:  Internet capabilities

Procedures:
    1.  Class will break into five groups
    2.  Each group will be asked to determine the meaning of a section of the Preamble. See student page, We the People.
    3.  They will explain why it is important to their lives and give an example of something, which portrays their section.
    4.  Individual groups will present to the class

Modifications:  as indicated by  IEP's
 

Evaluation:  Quality group presentation on individual section of Preamble
