Learner Outcomes:

will understand compromise and how the framers of the Constitution used
compromise to resolve disagreements
2. Students
will explain how they resolved the problem
3. Students
will create a representation of their solution on hundred grid paper
Duration of Lesson: 1 class period
Materials: download 'The Donation"
Procedures:
1. Students will read "The Donation"
and discuss what possible solutions there are to the problem.
2. Students will discuss the problem
and brainstorm possible solutions. Students will come to consensus
and create a
written proposal which explains how each group will
get something of what they originally desired.
3. Students will use hundred grid paper
to draw a representation of their solution. Students will color and
label each
section of their grid sheet. Students will
create a key to explain their drawing.
4. Students will present their solution to
the class.
Modifications: as indicated by IEP

1. Group consensus in reaching a solution
2. Correctly represented solution on
grid paper.
3. Effective presentation of solution
to the class
