Title: Lesson #5 Self Image and Emotional Well Being

Learner Outcomes:

Students will identify what the concept self-image means.

Students will acknowledge the difference between a healthy self-image
and ideal image.

Students will identify at least 1 benefit of physical activity/exercise
to emotional well being.
Duration of Lesson: 2 class periods ( 30 - 45 minutes each)
Materials: Journals of lifestyle inventories and activities,
copy of Survival
Tips, projection screen, copies of story Everygirl
from Anytown, USA.
Technology Tools/Courseware: Computer, LCD Projector,
PowerPoint

from Anytown, USA and do Journal questions.

Return students' journals that had been printed out to them.

Have students review silently their personal journals.

Lead discussion on what the "ideal" body image would be.

Lead discussion on fallacy of media versus reality.

Discuss how evaluating personal activity level can make one feel.

Have students watch PowerPoint presentation utilizing Projector and
screen on Survival
Tips

Lead discussion on how being physically active affects emotions and
feeling of well being, having students evaluate themselves and share.

Discuss setting personal activity goals to add in Journal later.
-
Retrieve journals to return to computer teacher.
Modifications: Follow IEP's and 504 plans where applicable.
