Duration of Lesson:
9 class periods in three days (45 minute period)

This
activity will be a cross curriculum project. It will utilize art
class, music class, and either Language Arts or Social Studies class.
Students will work on their presentation in each of the classes.
This will be a teacher assigned cooperative
learning lesson, so make sure to group students of various abilities.
Teacher will need book ability to
use computer with LCD connections for Power Point.
Students will need a working knowledge
of PowerPoint.
Procedures:
Day one:
- Students will be given guidelines for PowerPoint presentation.
- Explain and discuss and questions students may have regarding the presentation.
- Students will assign each member of the group with a specific task for the presentation.
- Students will research and investigate on the Internet.
- Teacher will proof rough draft of PowerPoint presentation.
- Students will research and investigate on the Internet.
- Students will finalize presentation.
- Students, in their cooperative learning groups, will present their Civil War presentation .
·Make accommodations and meet the needs of students with Individual Educational Plans (IEPS).
·May need to adjust classes to work cross curriculum.
·Make sure cooperative groups are varied abilities and assigned by the teacher.
Enrichment Activities:
- Students can create a longer then required Power Point.
- Students can write an original poem or story from a soldier’s point of view.
- Students can create a diorama on the Civil War utilizing photos from the Internet or books.
