"Spider Web Rhyme Game"

Direct the children to sit in a circle. Begin by holding the end of the yarn. Roll the ball of yarn to a child naming a rhyming word from the previously created list. The child receiving the ball will name a word that rhymes. Provide help with rhyming as needed. Then the child holds the yarn and names a different rhyming word or the teacher may provide one as he or she rolls the ball to another child. As the game continues, the children will soon discover that they are making a web. At the end of the yarn, the children will not only have received reinforcement in learning to rhyme, they will be delighted that they have captured a fly or insect in their web.
