Weaving a placemat
Give each child a 12" x 18" sheet of their favorite color of construction paper.
Have them hamburger fold the paper by matching the corners and pressing down.
Tell them to hold the paper so that the fold is at the bottom toward their stomach
and cut straight lines to within an inch of the edge of the paper.
Next have the children choose twenty constrasting slips
of construction paper to weave under and over
the slits they cut. They may decorate with pictures or
animal stickers.
Laminate for durability and use at snack time.
