*looks like it was filmed with someone's home video camera
*shows  bunch of real people having a great time drinking Brand X cola or wearing
  Brand X athletic shoes
*each scene is carefully staged and rehearsed

Famous Faces
*shows a celebrity using Brand X.
*effective because many people want to be like their favorite celebrities
*goal to make people think that if they buy Brand X, then they'll buy more like a
  beautiful movie star or the superstar athlete in the commercial

Just the Facts
*uses facts and figures to sell a product
*may say "Nine out of ten teenagers say Brand X is the best cola."
*it may not tell you anything about the survey that produced these results
  How many people were surveyed?  10 or 15?
 

Problem Solution
*shows someone with problem, and then shows the product solving the problem
*ie:a new kid moves to town; his problem is that he doesn't know anybody or have
  any friends; he has an idea; he buys a few cans of Brand X Cola and offers them to
  the guys laying basketball in the park; the guys love Brand X; they decide the new
  guy is cool
*Brand X solves the problem
