Interview Form
After completing your pre-interview research,  you must set up interviews with candidates who are relevant to the story.  Familiarize yourself with the information so that you will be capable of asking additional topic-relevant questions mid-interview. Make sure that the interviewee is aware that the meeting is for a story-related interview.

TIPS:

  • Organize questions in a logical progression.
  • Avoid yes or no questions.
  • Plan, plan, plan.
  • Pay close attention for leads into additional questions during the interview.
  • ALWAYS ask HOW and WHY.
  • Make sure to take thorough notes or utilize a tape recorder for additional accuracy.
  • It is better to ask someone to repeat themselves than to get it all wrong!
  • Double-check the spelling of all names, including first and last.
  • Don't forget the THANK YOU!
  • Draft the story as soon as possible...
