Who does what?
The student will identify the roles of those involved in the production of a broadway musical.

 
  1. Writes the music.
  2. All of those involved in the promotion of the production from finding funds to financially produce the show to publicity and advertisement of the performances.
  3. Writes the script or spoken dialogue.
  4. Those individuals who run the sound, lighting, scenery changes, curtains, props and any other "behind the scenes" activties necessary to the success of the performances.
  5. Writes the words to the songs.
  6. Instrumentalists who play for the performances.
  7. Oversees all performance aspects of the production.
  8. All performers - singers, actors and dancers.
  9. Takes the songs written for the production and arranges them according to the instrumentation to be used for the performance.
  10. Creates and teaches dance numbers.
  11. Creates mood and effects through the use of theatrical lighting.
  12. Oversees the preparation of the music aspects of the production and usually acts as the orchestra conductor for the performances.
  13. Creates all the clothing to be worn by the performers.
  14. Works with the singers on learning specific vocal parts to the songs.
  15. Creates the scenery and backgrounds to be constructed for the various scenes throughout the production.
