Duration of Lesson:  2 to 3 - 45 minute class periods

Materials:  graphic organizers

Technology Tools/Courseware:  Computer, data projector, power point presentation

Teacher Notes:  Secure lab for enrichment

Procedures:  Teacher will provide information through power point presentation and lecture.
Students will use the graphic organizer  - The Web - for note taking.  Web is centered on page for printing purposes.

Modifications:  The pace of the class will be somewhat slower to accommodate LD students.  Teacher must not get ahead of the students.  Please check IEPs.  For Advanced students:  They may pick any one topic in the lecture and search for articles offering conflicting viewpoints. They will then write a paper expressing their viewpoint based on the articles.  Articles must be attached to the paper.

Enrichment Activity:  Students may go to prohibition web site.
           Read about the Prohibition Party
           View 5 or 6 political cartoons and their analyses
           Create a political cartoon on Prohibition in the 1920s.  They will have one week from the date of the assignment.
           This is a special assignment not to be done in class.
           Grades will be based on historical accuracy, creative thinking and neatness.

Evaluation/Assessment:  At the beginning of the unit, students will be told their evaluation will be in the form of a
                                          project.  This is done so that students can be thinking of topics they would like to work on.
                                          The following instructions will be given:

                        For your project, you may select any aspect of the Roaring Twenties.  You may do a
                        poster, design a fashion page, write an original song or poem, do a collage, build a
                        model, illustrate a slogan, or anything else you might like to do.  The project will be
                        graded on neatness and historical accuracy.  Artistic ability is not required.
