The student will read an article on prohibition from the internet using
the SQ3R method

Duration of Lesson: One class period of approximately 45 minutes

The student needs paper and pencil to answer questions

Teacher Notes:

Students should be familiar with the use of a computer and how to explore
the Internet

Reservations in computer lab may be needed
Procedures:

Teacher will discuss importance of study techniques

Teacher will present lesson on the SQ3R study technique using a Power
Point presentation

Students will access the Power Point presentation on their computer
-
Students will complete Power Point presentation on SQ3R
-
Students will be instructed to access the Prohibition
website and use the SQ3R study technique to read article
-
Students will be instructed to answer questions on Activity
Sheet without use of reading

Teacher will lead a class discussion on the questions - emphasizing how
SQ3R helps remember answers
Modifications:

Speed and repetition of lesson would be considered for LD students

Reading will be on a reading level which all can participate

Paired tutoring

Enlarged print via data projector used for visually impaired students

Modifications will be made according to student's IEP
Enrichment Activities:

To challenge students, another viewpoint on prohibition will be accessed
and the student will be asked to compare and contrast the two viewpoints
