Procedures:
Day 1
- Group
students into five teams.
- Teams
brainstorm American symbols. (possible responses eagle, American flag, Uncle
Sam, Liberty Bell, Figures of Justice, Great Seal etc.).
- Teams
share their list of American symbols.
- As
a large group discuss why we have American symbols.
- Teams
predict what they think the symbols stand for.
- Assign
each Team an American Symbol.
Day 2
- Teams
will do a tutorial
on how to use the Internet to do research.
Day 3 - 4
- Teams
use the internet to search for information on their symbol.
- Teams
complete an information sheet
