Learner Outcomes
Language Arts:
In their groups, students will complete a two column article
about the conservation unit for publication in the local paper, type it
into
Microsoft Word and save to a disk.
Math: Students
will total time spent on charts, enter data into Microsoft Excel
and make a pie chart of the results.
Science: Students will
formulate a hypothesis about how water is cleaned
before the water is distributed into the community.
Social Studies: Students
will use information from designated web sites and
work with a partner and create an advertising poster for an historic site.

may take articles to newspaper and have a tour of
publishing facilities.
Math: Students will analyze
pie charts for possible weaknesses in how time is
spent and continue monitoring for improvement.
Science: Students will
make an event chain concept map that shows how soap
chemicals in a bucket might end up as a pollution in a local stream.
Social Studies:
Research one of the American memorials or monuments listed
and describe the significance, construction, or other important features
of
the structure in a brochure or report. Possible explorations: Lincoln
Memorial, Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Thomas Jefferson Memorial,
Vietnam Veteran's Memorial, Washington Monument, or Gateway Arch.
