Directions for Patchwork
Patterns
-
With your partner, view some
quilt patterns, then decide on one to recreate.
-
You will need the following
materials:
-
A piece of 10”x10” construction
or scrapbooking paper
-
Scissors, glue, and a ruler
-
Smaller pieces of construction
paper or material
-
You will measure a 1 inch margin
around all four sides of your 10”x10” square. Your actual quilt block
will go inside the margin.
-
Before you cut paper or material,
plan your quilt block and use the templates to make a practice design.
-
After you have created your
practice design, cut your pieces and assemble them on your 10”x10” square.
Make sure you have all pieces within the margins.
-
Carefully glue the pieces to
the 10”x10” square.
-
Now, tell what geometric shapes
were involved in making your quilt block. Be sure to tell how many
of each shape were used (Ex. 6 triangles, 2 squares, etc.) Write
this on an index card and paperclip it to your quilt piece.
