Flat Bread
1 cup flour
1 cup cornmeal
1 cup water
salt
Procedure:
Mix all the ingredients in bowl. Shape the dough into
flat cakes.
Fry in a lightly greased pan until golden brown.
Indian Fry Bread
4 cups white flour
6 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. salt
1 tbs.. shortening
water
cooking oil
Procedure:
Mix the ingredients (except for cooking oil) together
to make a stiff dough. With your hands, roll the dough into a ball about
3" in diameter and pull the ball into a 6" circle. Do not use a rolling
pin. With a knife, cut one side in five places from the center out. Heat
1" of cooking oil in a skillet and drop in the flattened dough. Brown each
side and serve with honey, cinnamon and sugar, or powdered sugar.
