LESSON PLAN

Title:  Resume Writing Lesson 3

Grade Levels:  11,12 and post-seccondary

Subjects:  English Language Arts, Vocational Technical

Learner outcomes:  The student will produce a hard copy of an acceptable resume

Time frame: One 45-minute class period

Materials:

Technology tools/courseware:  computer and internet

Teacher Notes:

· The student must be in compliance with the Acceptable Use Policy
· The student must have prior knowledge of keyboarding, computer and internet usage
Procedures:

1. The student will be introduced to the formatting of a resume
             Must be typewritten
             Can only be one page
             Must be completely honest
2. The student will be introduced to different resumes
           Examples of resumes
                · Students will be encouraged to devise their own format based on the examples shown
3. Students will be informed of some “do’s and don'ts of resumes
           Examples of “do’s and don’ts”
4. The student will complete a resume using the word processing software on their computer
5. Students will help proofread and edit each others resumes.
6. Finished resumes will then be assigned a grade.
