Procedures:
- Using Movie Works software, the student will integrate essays, video clips, graphics, artwork, sound, and photos to produce a multi-media scrapbook of the time period.
- Students will form TEAMs (Together Everyone Accomplishes Much) to prepare and present an IMEx (Interactive, Multi-media Exhibition). The one-day IMEx will be a retrospect of the period, incorporating the projects done in the previous lessons, i.e., essays, speeches, artistic work, music, etc. The design of the exhibit shall be to include the participant (viewer) in the action of the period.
- Groups will prepare the exhibit hall
- Install artistic works
- Prepare for the Happenings
- Secure and set-up projection equipment
- Arrange for a sound system
- Edit and synchronize video and movie clips
- Edit and synchronize slide shows
- Design and print invitations/announcements/posters
- Provide refreshments
- Write a news release
Modifications:
Provide adaptations that meet with student IEPsEnrichment Activities:
Using a student-designed interview sheet, students will conduct an "exit poll" to ascertain whether the IMEx captured the reality of the period and understand the emotional impact upon the participant.Evaluation/Assessment:
Students will understand the chronology of the period from 1945 to 1975 with emphasis on the arts, literature, technology, society, and politics.Since each element of the exhibit has already been assessed, no further evaluation will be necessary. However, individual students will be asked to prepare an essay concerning the overall impact of the unit and the IMEx presentation. The essays and exit poll interviews will be posted to the school webpage.
