Title:  Thank you Letters

Grade Level:  7

Subject:  Computers, Language Arts, Health

Learner Outcomes:  The student will be able to use correct etiquette, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and formatting when writing a thank you letter.  Prepare envelopes using USPS style and insert correctly folded letters.

Duration of Lesson:  1 day

Materials:  Mini lecture, stationary, stamps, and envelopes.

Technology Tools/courseware:  Microsoft Word, internet connection, computer, LCD panel, and printer.

Teacher Notes:

Procedure:

1.  Discuss the importance of using correct etiquette when writing thank you letters.
2.  Review basic formatting guidelines for typing a thank you letter.
3.  Mini lesson on keying a mailing  address and return address correctly on an envelope.
4.  Assign each group three businesses to write thank you letters to for their participation in the health fair.
5.  Use spelling and grammar check on each letter.
6.  Exchange letters to proofread for content.
7.  Sign the letter with a black pen.
8.  Address envelopes using the USPS guidelines.
9.  Turn all work into the teacher to be checked and mailed.
