Title: The Life of a Knight Grade Levels:  Nine through Twelve Subjects: Language Arts, Social Studies

• Research the life of a knight
• Research weapons used by the knight
• Create a multimedia presentation to include one aspect of daily life and information on three weapons used by knights.

Materials:  Computer Lab Computer Disks to Save Presentations Paper and Writing Utensil
Technology Tools/Course Work: Computer Lab  Internet Sites Middle Ages 4 Middle Ages Encarta Middle Ages Projects

Teacher notes:

• The teacher should become familiar with the life of the knight by reviewing the Internet sites in advance
• The teacher will gather the above needed materials ahead of time and prepare
• The teacher needs to schedule the computer lab for four periods
• The teacher needs to determine how students will be divided into groups of four

Suggestions for Grouping:
• Random numbering
• Strengths and weaknesses
• Personalities
• Intelligences as defined by Thomas Armstrong in Multiple Intelligences in the Classroom

• The teacher can use the learner outcomes for this lesson to explain the project
• The teacher will distribute an instruction sheet to each group
• The students will research, design and offer a multimedia presentation

• The teacher should establish cooperative groups in such a way that all students should reach a level of success

• Use the Internet to find examples of weaponry and display the pictures for the class

• The teacher will evaluate the presentations using a rubric based on the criteria established on the instruction sheet
