Teacher Notes:
Pass out Will You Sign Here, John Hancock? by
Jean Fritz the day before the lesson begins so that students have a chance
to read the first block of assigned pages.
Procedures:
1. The teacher opens the lesson by reading the
"Revolutionary Tea" poem.
2. The students will complete literature
circles and work on the contract activities including SOPs (summary,
opinions, and predictions).
3. Rotate the students to the computer to view
the CD Rom "Shh, We're Writing the Constitution." Students will answer
five of the ten questions on Assignment 14, page 46, Branches of Government
from the CD Rom Teacher's Guide.
Modifications:
The students will work in cooperative groups for most
activities.
