Learner Outcomes:
    Label a map of Europe and color the eleven European countries which will be the first to use the euro.
    Define the euro, and what its impact will be on the European community. View the conversion rates on the euro.
    Review facts about the euro online at the quia site.
    Examine online the different euro coins and banknotes.
    Make a chart with the pros and cons of a single currency in Europe.
    Recreate "euro" banknotes in an online puzzle format.
    List the criteria for "euro" use. Answer sheet.
    Name the three phases of incorporating the "euro" into the European economy.Answer sheet .
    Take online quiz one and quiz two - Eurolandia.

Duration:
    This lesson will require at least 90 minutes.

Materials:
    blank map of Europe
    a chart for listing the pros and cons of a single currency in Europe
    a visual organizer for the the three phrases and the criteria
    computers with Internet access
    Students go to local banks to find out information about the Euro

Technology Tools:
    computers with Internet access

Teacher Notes:
    The teacher may want to begin the lesson with an audioclip on the "euro."
    When using the online puzzle- Atemis, allow enough time for it to load.  Once it loads, then there will be a gray box.  Choose one of the banknotes below the gray box for the puzzle format.   Again, give this puzzle time to load; click to manipulate the puzzle pieces.

Procedures:

Modifications:
    Use a chart as a visual organizer to arrange the pros and cons of the euro.  May have part of the chart completed, so the student can keep up with his classmates.
    Give a word bank for the listing of the criteria.
    Have the three phases on index cards, and have them arrange them in chronological order.
    Make any other modifications, according to the IEP.
