           Lesson Two:

      Internet Safety 

Title:  Internet Safety

Grade Level:  12
(Unit may be adapted to any class using computer lab online activities.)

Subject Areas:  Business and Language Arts

Learner Outcomes:  The student will acquire knowledge of and identify the safe and proper procedures for exploring the Internet.
 

                        Time Frame:  Three 45 minute class periods
 
Materials: Technology Tools/Courseware:
Computer Projector Device
Computers with Internet Capability

Teacher Notes:

  • All of the sites below are on an elementary reading level, so all students should be capable of completing the assignments.
  • Students will have on file the "Acceptable Use Policy for Computer Networks and Telecommunications Agreement Form"  signed by the student, his/her parent or guardian, and sponsoring teacher.
Procedures: Students will gain knowledge of Internet safety.

The students will be given a copy of the Internet Safety Rules handout.
                        Modifications:
  • Teacher should determine the need for student assistance based on Inclusion and request a special education teacher and/or aide be present during lesson instruction & activities.
  • Teachers can also use peer tutoring and/or small group work during activities.
