chart paper
brass paper fasteners
red and white art paper
CD player or record player.

Technology Tools/Courseware:
Computer with Internet access

Teacher Notes:
Begin by enlarging and duplicating the art activity sheet 1 and sheet 2
for each child on red and white construction paper.
Invite community people to come into the classroom and share different
        cultures with the class.
Make arrangements to get a digital camera and take pictures of each child
with his or her art work which will be shown later.
Invite children to bring in live bunnies for the class to observe.

Procedures:
Day 1 - Read the story, The Little Rabbit Who Wanted Red Wings. Using the chart paper and markers, divide the paper in half and have the children dictate a list of likeness and differences. Lead a discussion about their list and help them add ideas. Invite community people to share their cultural diversities with the children. Allow children time to talk and share ideas, then re-read the story slowly, giving them time to interact with the story.

Day 2 - Lead the children in a discussion about yesterdays story and review the important events of the story and the lesson the rabbit learned. Pass out art supplies and copies of the large white rabbit and the red wings. Have the children cut out the rabbit and his red wings. Using the paper fasteners, attach the red wings to the back of the rabbit. The wings can then be easily folded down behind the rabbit as the children tell and re-tell the story. Take pictures of each child with their rabbit, letting them choose whether they want their wings to show or not.

Day 3 - Secure a location where the children can view their pictures using a data projector. Allow time for EACH child to explain why they chose to show or not to show their rabbit's wings. Allow time for the children to use the internet to view pictures of real rabbits and learn more about them.

Modifications:
Modify according to individual student's IEP's. A copy of the book on tape can be used for anyone who is not allowed to access the Internet. Gather books to show pictures of bunnies for those who are not allowed on the Internet.

Enrichment Activities:
During free time, students may visit a live rabbit cam.  Have the student document or keep a journal of what they observed while watching the live cam.

Evaluation/Assessment:
Class participation, journals, art activity, sharing ideas with the class, ability to use the computer for viewing rabbit pictures. Grading rubric
