| Teacher notes | This is an introductory lesson designed to
engage the students in the Hooked on Health Get A C T I V E community and school wellness project. The first day will be spent in discussion with students about physical and mental wellness and the definitions of each. The discussion will also focus on identifying sites within the county that provide opportunities for citizens to exercise, visit and interact. At a later date, guest speakers will visit classes to discuss their personal fitness plans. Students will brainstorm a list of questions today, so they can be ready for interaction with speakers. | |
| Enrichment activities | Students will visit various sites such as the
O. K. Wilfong Fitness Trail, the Ivydale Hill Trail, the Annex Trail, Cemetery Hill, the CCHS weight room, etc. and develop reports to present to the class. Report format will be determined by presenters; however, students will be encouraged to use visuals and incorporate technology into their presentations. | |
