Teacher notes This is an introductory lesson designed to
engage the students in the Hooked on Health
Get A C T I V E community and school wellness
project. The first day will be spent in
discussion with students about physical and
mental wellness and the definitions of each.
The discussion will also focus on identifying
sites within the county that provide
opportunities for citizens to exercise, visit
and interact. At a later date, guest speakers
will visit classes to discuss their personal
fitness plans. Students will brainstorm a list
of questions today, so they can be ready for
interaction with speakers.
Enrichment activities Students will visit various sites such as the
O. K. Wilfong Fitness Trail, the Ivydale Hill
Trail, the Annex Trail, Cemetery Hill, the CCHS
weight room, etc. and develop reports to present
to the class. Report format will be determined
by presenters; however, students will be
encouraged to use visuals and incorporate
technology into their presentations.
